Happy New Year!

Hello everyone! So three posts in one day, my aren't you all blessed ha!

Today is New Years Eve. Which I am a little bit sad about actually. 2013 has been a really good year for me.

-I passed my A Levels and I didn't think I would.
-I passed my driving theory test.
-I passed my driving test with only one minor and on the first time too!
-I got a job and am still happily working there now.
-I got a car.
-I made several big realisations.
-I am really happy I made the decision not to go to uni.
-I have lost many 'friends' (at the time I was sad) but now I am so happy about it. I know it sounds weird but we didn't much at all in common and even though them ignoring me hurt at first I have two best friends and a loving family that are so so much better than a load of fake friends who don't care about me at all. (whoops sorry about the rant)
-I still don't know what I want to do in life, but I do know what I don't want to do.
-I got a puppy!
-And my blog has really hit off and overall I have more than 1000 followers so thank you all so so much!! You have no idea how much this all means to me.

Me and my friend Eloise on our last day of Sixth form when we could come in, in fancy dress.

I went to Brighton and I have wanted to go here for years!!
Titch (Glitter Gnome) and I out and about.

I got a little puppy called Charlie and he's so sweet.

I saw McFly live with my sister and they were really good! We both had a lot of fun!

Here's a picture of Vicki and I on one of our many nights out!

I hope that 2014 holds as much excitement as 2013 did or equally if its even better! Thanks for reading, I hope you liked this post. Happy New Year everyone! Love, A x

What I got for Christmas!

Hi! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas time getting spoiled by your loved ones and eating your weight in Turkey, pigs in blankets and Quality Street!...Because I certainly did. I got utterly spoilt by my family this Christmas and I want to share some of the things they got me with you here. I am in no way bragging in this post I am extremely thankful for everything I have received and feel very blessed to have such a loving family and two best friends.

This has some great tips and advice on nail care and some really cool nail art designs too!

My old hair dryer broke the week before christmas and I would wash my hair in the evening and dry it by the fire afterwards. But I am very impressed with this hair dryer so far. Expect a review on it quite soon!

I really like this scent, it is long lasting and is a lot better than I expected as I'm usually quite sceptical of celebrity fragrances.

I've been relying on my mum's ghd's for quite a while now and asked for these for christmas as I have heard quite a lot of good reviews and was on a special offer in Boots.

I really liked the idea of this perfume set as I like quite a few of the perfumes in this and wouldn't mind trying the others too.

Inside there are little bottles that contain about 6-7 spritzes inside. This set also comes with a voucher equivalent to a 30ml bottle of one of the fragrances.

I got an EOS lip balm from my sister.

And plenty of Lush products too! What's Christmas without a bit of Snow Fairy, eh?
I hope you liked this post, thanks for reading! Love, A x

Glitter Gnome spoiled me!

Today is the last day of 2013 and this makes me a little sad as this year has been one of my best! Hopefully 2014 will be just as good if not better. I have been slacking recently when it came to blogging over Christmas I was somewhat distracted with family meeting up, work, eating Christmas food and unhealthy amounts of cake and chocolates.

However  as it is still December and also 2013 I am going to finish off and post all the blog posts I meant to post after Christmas all today! So enjoy a little influx!

Glitter Gnome is my real life bff and she got me some really lovely presents this Christmas. I just want to say I am in no way bragging whilst writing this I am merely just showing I have a lovely best friend.

Thank you Titch!! I hope you all got spoiled rotten this Christmas time. Thanks for reading, I hope you liked reading this post. Love, A x

Meet Charlie..

Hi everyone!! I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas time with your loved ones gorging on lots of yummy foods and generally being spoiled rotten!

I apologize for the lack of posts recently what with Christmas and all the mayhem leading up to it and after everything with me has been a little bit hectic to say the very least! I must say this Christmas I have been thoroughly spoiled rotten by my two best friends, the ladies I work with and all of my family and I've received some amazing presents that I will cherish. Possibly my favourite thing to happen to my family and I over the Christmas period would be the arrival of the puppy! At the beginning of December my Mum saw an ad in the local paper about some schnoodle (schnauzer cross toy poodle) puppies for sale. I went to work that day and we were considering going to see them after I finshed at 4 but when I got picked up my Mum, Stepdad and sister had already gone round and bought the little boy one. He was available to pick up on Boxing day and we have all fallen in love with him already!

His name is Charlie and he is so cute.

If I was to know..

It's weird to think how quickly time flies and how much can change in a short space of time.  Just yesterday I was thinking how good 2013 has been for me.  Thinking back now to how different everything is and I am compared to last year is extraordinary!

This time last year I was feeling very lost and insecure. I didn't really have a best friend nor anyone to really rely on outside family I however felt I had a lot of good friends. I wanted to leave sixth form in the middle of my A Levels as I really wasn't having a good time there. Everyone else around me knew what they wanted to do career wise and were applying to universities whilst I had no idea, and still don't.

If I was to know then a year from now that those people who I called good friends would stop talking to me I think back then it would have felt like the end of the world. But now, I can happily admit I only have two or three friends outside family and I don't care. They are the greatest friends I've ever had and they are ten times better than the people I thought I was close to.

If I was to know a year ago that I would end up sticking out at sixth form and getting better grades than all my teachers predicted I wouldn't have believed you. I was really unhappy during sixth form. I met a lot of my friends through sixth form so I am thankful and loved sixth form for that aspect. However I didn't really enjoy the subjects I did (english literature and language, psychology and media studies) I struggled quite a lot and didn't get to grips with it unlike the majority of my classmates.  Because of this my teachers predicted me grades like D's and E's. Which to many is a good thing, it's still a grade but in this day and age we've been taught to aim for the absolute best so A's and A*s are commonly received. In the summer I passed all three of my A Levels and got three C's which I was super pleased with! It may not be the best grades and I certainly know a lot of people who would've been disappointed with those grades and I also know people who would have been pleased all the same.  Looking back now I am so glad I stuck it out as I wouldn't have known what I'd have done if I did leave!

Looking back to last year now I would have never have thought I would have passed my driving test first time round with only one minor!!

Looking back now I would never have thought that I'd be in a job that I really like and get along really well with all the ladies I work with! It may not be something I particularly want to do in life but I enjoy working there.

And finally this time last year I would have never ever have envisaged my blog to have grown as much as it did! It means the world to me that people read what I write and every single follow or comment makes me smile, so thank you!

I hope 2014 is even better than 2013 has been so far!

What are your highlights of 2013?

Thanks for reading, I hope you liked it! Love, a x

Best friend, forever?

Friendships are formed almost instantaneously. You can be drawn to one another by having similar interests or mutual friends. There is no legitimate commitments in a friendships which means they can be ended without even a proper reason why.

When a friendship ends nobody tells you what to do or what to say. Throughout my life so far, I have to say I have had my fair share of 'best friends'. At the time I thought we would be best friends forever and ever and only now, looking back I can tell that none of them were real friends let alone best friends.

From when I was about two or three in playgroup I grew closer to another girl there called Hattie. We remained close for years and years. There was also another girl who I was close to growing up but I don't get along with her anymore so don't want to even mention her name. When I was about ten Hattie moved to America with her family to live. I remember at the time I was so upset and didn't know what I was going to do. But I had other friends in my classes so I wasn't completely alone haha! Hattie and I would email, write and send parcels to each other which was so cool receiving post and packages from America! So I think that brings me to best friend count number 2.

Then I moved onto secondary school. I lost touch with a lot of people from primary school which I think was inevitable really. School tends to bind a lot of different people together and speaking from experience its a lot easier to get on with someone than not get on with them. For most of secondary I was best friends with another girl called Briony. We had our ups and downs and got along well, most of the time. She moved to Spain a few years back with her Mum and sister, ha you might be noticing a slight theme of friends moving abroad..It's not me I swear?!

There were two girls in my maths, english and science classes who I grew closer too as Briony and I grew further apart. The thing with growing apart from someone is that you don't really notice it happening until you barely know each other anymore. Siana, Ellie and I became really good friends and I still regard them as close friends now. Even though we don't really see each other that often and are all doing different things and are in different places in our lives, If we met up again we could still chat like old friends as if we'd never been apart.

In my GCSE years of secondary school so year ten and year eleven a friend introduced me to one of her friends called Emily. She had a great sense of humour and at the time we had very similar interests. Back then I had even less of an idea of what I wanted to do with my life than I do now and I wasn't sure what road I wanted to go down to do with a levels, sixth form and college. We eventually grew apart when I realised we didn't really have much in common and she scarcely made time nor any effort with me and spent a lot of time with her then boyfriend.

I think this now brings me up to a best friend count of six! My gosh how fickle does this make me sound!! Over sixth form I think the lack of 'best friend' got to me. I always had a large group of friends around me and I'm as comfortable in a big group as I am on my own. Nevertheless I never really had one person I could trust 100% and rely on completely. During sixth form I had a lot of friends, I don't want to come across as big-headed or obnoxious by saying this, I kind of floated in between two different friendship groups. I didn't really think anything of it and for the first time I felt a little bit popular so was relishing in the invites and the amount of times by phone would buzz with a new text!

Nothing lasts forever so I understand that most things have a sort of 'expiry date'. From friendships to relationships to jobs etc. At one moment in time it felt right.

As I have said before I made the decision not to go to uni this year or probably any year for that matter. It was quite a big decision for me as I'm not too sure what I actually want to do with my life and I'm terrible at making decisions too so considering this is quite a big choice to make I'm pretty sure I made the right choice, for myself anyway.

I knew already that finishing school meant you lose touch with people, and I finished in June and was a bit hurt by the sudden loss of people in my life. What hurt the most was that a few of the people who I thought were good friends had disappeared from my life completely. Though it probably meant nothing to them that they'd go off on days out or trips to the pub without me, I was left feeling quite hurt and upset. I think what got to me the most was that I felt so easy to forget about and they didn't even give me a second thought. Was I that easy to forget about!?

As a lot of my friends were going to uni I was fully aware that they would be going off to new places meeting new people and making friends whereas I would be staying in my hometown, working and I wouldn't be meeting any new faces. My friend Sam had introduced me to two girls who I got along well with. I mention them sometimes in my posts..Vicki and Titch?? Over the last year or so we all have grown very close and I would happily regard them both as my closest friends. I could talk to them about anything and even though it sounds a bit lame to me I think it feels pretty awesome to say aside from family I have two other people I can rely on and they can rely on me!

It's one of the weirdest feelings knowing you once were so close to someone and now you barely know each other. People change so it'd be weird to expect someone to remain the same person forever. It's only natural that we grow up and change.

Hmm..that took a slightly more depressing angle than I expected but I hope you liked this post! Love, A x

Midweek catch up!

Hello!!

I hope you're all well and loving the Christmas cheer at the moment! I for one am very excited for Christmas Day to come for one of two reasons. This year unlike any other I have managed to finish my Christmas shopping a lot earlier than expected and usual. I'm normally the person panicking on Christmas Eve but not this year, a certain little miss over hear had all the presents wrapped within the first week of December so I can sit back, relax and watch everyone else go crazy shopping! Secondly I love Christmas as I have always had such lovely connotations of it being a time for families. Every Christmas Day for as long as I can remember my grandparents have always come up and joined us and we see various other family members over the days leading up to and after Christmas. Ahhh I just can't wait!

Anyway, I was writing this post as I feel I haven't really posted much recently. I have been having a few troubles with my Google+ account which has meant no new comments have come up nor have I been notified on them. Annoyingly I can't seem to find a help button or an email address I can use to contact someone to see if there is anything I could do to fix this.

So I want to fill you in with what I've been up to recently!  Over the last couple of weeks I seem to have grown busier and busier which I have been enjoying! On Monday I went shopping with my Mum and Sister. There were quite a lot of clothes that I really wanted to get but I couldn't justify getting them to myself, especially at this time of year and what with a lot of my friends coming home from uni and organising nights out or going to the pub, I thought I better not! In the evening I saw one of my closest friends Eloise for a meal. I hadn't seen her since the beginning of September as she's moved to Plymouth for uni. That was really nice having a catch up with her alongside a really delicious burger. Even though we hadn't seen each other for months we were sat there chatting as if we'd never been away!

On Tuesday I met my friend Morien for a coffee. We hadn't seen each other since early August as we both were really busy and she had moved to Falmouth for uni. It was so lovely to spend some time with her and have a catch up. Afterwards we went for a walk at a national trust place not too far from where we were and it looked really beautiful when I went there with Mum in the autumn but now all the leaves have fallen off the trees it looked quite bare and solemn.

On Wednesday I didn't really do much in the day time. I was going to get some things sorted but I accidentally had a lie in and decided that as I had already wasted a few hours there wasn't much point in starting now so my sister and I carried on with our Desperate Housewives marathon. Every series is on Sky+ boxsets at the moments so we're getting through them quite quickly and are already on one of the early episodes of series 2! In the evening I was meeting my three colleagues at a pub for a relaxed 'meeting'. We had some work stuff to discuss and wanted to get it said and out the way in a fun, friendly way! Then we later went on to a local restaurant for our staff Christmas meal. I was excited yet a little anxious. Even though I get on really well with my co-workers I have never been to a work party before and in general I am quite a socially awkward person so I tend to attract bad things.. I'm not really one to complain in a restaurant, but the drink I asked for came out wrong and they got the wrong starter for me so I told the waiter nicely that there had been a mix up. Nonetheless we all had a great time. It was really nice seeing the others girls out of  work and getting to know them all a bit better! The food was really good too. I had a duck and port pate to start. It tasted really nice and the presentation was really unique too. They put the pate in a little jar which I thought looked really cool.  For mains we all had the roast turkey and all the trimmings, it was so good but so so filling all the same. And for pudding I had a winter berry crumble and by this point I was feeling so unbelievably stuffed.

So that's about it for my week so far, I hope you enjoyed reading this post! Love, A X

December 4th

Hi! I hope you're all well and getting well and truly into the Christmas spirit!

I realise I haven't posted anything in a while and seeing as I did a few things yesterday this post will be all about what I've been getting up to since we last spoke which was a week ago today!

I've been at work quite a lot recently which has been nice! I get along really well with the other ladies I work with and also an extra few pennies will be great for the January sales and mine and my Mum's birthday at the end of next month! I have also been super organised this year and almost finished my Christmas shopping, bar a few small details, well in advance!

Other than that I haven't really done a lot apart from yesterday. For Mother's Day this year my sister, Bronya, and I bought our Mum tickets to see Boyzone at the bic in Bournemouth.  We headed down to Bournemouth mid afternoon and decided to do a bit of shopping first! We went to the out of town shopping park, Castlepoint. To tell you the truth I was left a bit unimpressed with most things in shops right now. I think everyone seems to be in that awkward fashion phase of wanting to look nice yet also wanting to be warm and cosy! However I did manage to get a small something in Boots.

We headed into Bournemouth town at about half past five. We walked through the gardens which was looking really pretty and wintry. The Christmas lights were up and the ice skating rink was in full swing too. In Bournemouth square they had a live band playing and the German Christmas market there too. To sum up I was feeling very Christmassy.

We went to eat at La Tasca. They had an offer on for a starter and three tapas for £9.99 so we all did this. I always forget how filling the food is in places like this and can never quite finish. I had Bread and oils to start as did my sister. Whereas my Mum opted for the healthy option of the green salad. To follow I had the meatballs in a tomato sauce, chicken and chorizo paella and those chicken croquettes. My sister had the paella, meatballs and the fried potatoes in a spicy tomato sauce. My Mum had the paella too, the chicken croquettes and the deep fried white fish. To drink I had a woo-woo, my sister had a sangria and my mum had cava royale..fancy!

I've only ever been to La Tasca two or three times before and I have to say I haven't been overly smitten. The first time I went, me and mum went to the exeter one and I liked it then. Second time I wasn't that keen. I'm not a vegetarian but I don't tend to eat a lot of meat. I could quite happily not eat it but there isn't much on this menu that is a bit different. I'm quite a fussy eater.

Yes, so Boyzone. We got to the Bic and got some drinks and made our way to our seats. We got there about ten to seven and the doors were already open. I wasn't really sure what to expect with the other crowd members. I went to t4 on the beach twice, I've been to a Blink 182 concert and mcfly and as you can imagine they all attract different audiences but the main age group tends to be teenagers/young adults. Last night was a bit different, considering the fact I think my sister and I were some of the younger people in the room! There were a lot of old people in the room which I wasn't necessarily expecting! I imagined it to be a lot more of people my parent's ages so in their 40's to 50's. Nevertheless we had a good time.

The support act was a woman all the way from Texas, America. Her name was Jessica Clemmons and she had a very good voice. Her style of music I'd say is a mix of pop and country.  It's not really the type of music I'd listen to but I thought it was good.

Then Boyzone cam on stage at around quarter to nine and I think Mum fangirled a little bit a lot! when Ronan Keating came on. The age difference of the audience was something that I noticed. Most concerts or gigs I've been to everybody is up on their feet dancing and clapping and last night nearly everybody who was sat in the seated sections remained seated until the encore. They sang a mixture of their old songs and some from their new album, and during their concert they brought a table and chairs out onto the stage and sat round sharing stories on Stephen Gately who passed away several years ago, then raised a glass to him.
Overall I think we all enjoyed ourselves and a had a good evening! After concerts I always want to go home and book tickets for more!

Thanks for reading, I hope you liked it. Love, A x

Easy nail art.

HI!

I remember when I first turned my hand to trying to do some artsy things on my nails. I thought they looked really rubbish and I'd never be able to create interesting looks or designs. However after a lot of trying and many hours I think I have improved dramatically.

Whenever I post a nail art post I often get people commenting about how they feel they can't reproduce something similar. I am nowhere near an expert I have too much time on my hands and far too many polishes/nail pens!

I have compiled some cool nail art designs which I think are quite easy to do and replicate.

So I'm going to start off with the easiest of them all. A simple glitter tip. It takes next to no time to do and it always looks so cool.

I started off with a plain white base. I used a Barry M nail paint in the shade Matt White.

I then used a glittery gold polish and swept the brush across the end of the nail.
The polishes I used.
Tuxedo nails.

Start off with a black base.
Draw a V shape at the top of the nail using either a nail art pen or you can use a toothpick dipped in white nail polish to create the same effect.

Then fill in the v shape to create a thick white colour inside the V.

I used a white nail art pen, the nib tool to draw two squiggly lines either side of the V to create the look of lapels. Then used a dotting tool to create the look of buttons down the black part of the suit.

To add to the effect of the tuxedo. In the V shape, I drew a bowtie and some shirt buttons with a black nail art pen. To draw the bowtie I slowly drew opposing triangles to create the look of it.

Galaxy nails
For this look I started with a black base on the nail. I then used an old make up sponge which I have cut up into small pieces to make it easier to use.
Holding the sponge piece with a pair of tweezers I dipped the corner in some white nail polish.

I then sponged the white polish in a slight curved line across the painted black nail.

Then I used a light blue colour in the middle of the white stripe. And then a dark blue colour around the edges the stripe.
At this point I didn't think it was going well. So i added a bit more white and then blended it out with the light and dark blue. Do this until you reach the colours you like.
Once I was happy with the way it looked I used a white dotting pen. I did a mix of smaller and bigger dots to create the look of stars and moons.

Once I thought it was dry I put a silver and glitter coat over the top. The white spots weren't quite dry so it smudged.  I thought it looked better that way however as it looks more like a shooting star.

Penguin Nails
I started off with a black base and then using a dotting tool I drew a semi circle like shape at the bottom of the nail.

Above the white oval shape I dotted two white circles to create the look of eyes.
I then used a black dotting tool in the middle of the white dots to make eyes.
I don't have an orange dotting tool. So i improvised using the Barry M gelly hi shine nail paint in the colour Mango and an old kirby grip.
Using the kirby grip carefully I drew a triangle stretching from the eyes to the tip of the white oval shape to make a nose. And two small semi circles at the bottom to create little feet.

 Cartoon Nails

I started off with a red base colour. I used two coats for this to give it a rich, even colour.

After the red layers dried I went around the edges carefully with a black nail art pen drawing a medium thickness black line.
Wait for this to dry..

I then used a white nail art pen and drew a dot at the bottom and a slightly curved white line above to create the look of an artificial shine.

I then went over this with a matte finish polish to get rid of any natural shine.

et voila!
