Magenta and Silver

For my nails this week I used a Champneys polish in the shade Magenta which I got in a gift set from my mum for my birthday. As well as a Barry M nail polish effect in 319 silver foil.

I painted all fingers apart from my ring finger in the Champneys colour and used the silver on that one.

And a clearer picture of my nails beneath.

I think they look really cool and glam!

Mango nail paint

I am a big fan of pretty much all Barry M products, however out of all their nail polishes I do like their hi shine gelly nail paints the most.

Today I am using the shade 320 Mango.
I really like this colour it's really bold and bright. Plus it only needed one coat because it's a gel polish.

I don't often wear this shade and will probably use it more in the summer.

I can't remember where the big leopard face ring is from but I know the midi ring is from Topshop.

My favourite nail art wheel!

Hello everyone I hope you're all having a good week!

As you all may know I am slightly obsessed with all things nail arty! So I created this nail wheel of all my current favourite nail art ideas!

From the top white one going clockwise:
Barry M white with a black nail art pen to create the look of a moustache but now I think if looks more like a bat ha!

I used a collection lasting gel colour in coral reef with a black nail art pen.

I used a Barry M nail paint in Mint Green with a white nail art pen.

I used a Barry M nail paint in black. Then used a white nail art pen and drew a triangle from the top of the nail. I waited for that to dry and then used a black nail art pen to draw a bow tie and three small shirt buttons. I did a tutorial on this a few years ago which should be on my blog somewhere!

I then used a Gosh nail paint in the shade 569 Flamingo all over the nail. When that dried I drew a black stripe down the nail and coloured the other half in white. I find it easier to do it this way as I don't have a very steady hand. In the white side I used the liner side of a black nail art pen.

For this one I used a Rimmel London shade in Oh Boy You're So Fine. I waited for that to dry and then used a Barry M white polish to dab random spots and shapes on the nail. Then went round the white parts with a black nail art pen either dotting round them or a semi circle.

I used a Barry M colour in bright red. Then at the tip of the nail I drew some white lines. Once they dried i drew an anchor over the top with a black nail art pen.

I used a nude colour No7 colour for the base. I used a brown Barry M shade to randomly dot on the nail. Once that had dried I added extra details with a black nail pen around the brown dots or in any empty spaces.

For the top half of the nail I used a 17 yellow polish and I used an old eye shadow applicator as I lost my sponge and dabbed on the Barry M gelly nail paint in the colour mango. Once this had dried I drew a palm tree with a black nail art pen.

The base colour i used was Barry M paint in Cyan blue. Once that dried I used a white nail art pen to draw clouds.

I used an orange gelly nail polish in mango. At the bottom I used a black nail art pen and used a white pen to fill in the middle. Once that dried I wrote POW with a black nail art pen and used the white pen to add dots to the orange part.

I used the Barry M white paint for the base colour and a black nail art pen to draw the cross.

I used a blue/purple colour and drew an A on it with a black pen.

Next I used a Model's Own colour in 24 carat gold and went over the top with a Model's Own hed kandi in disco heaven. Over that I drew a lightning stripe shape with a black nail pen.

I used a collection lasting gel colour in Antique Rose and drew a black stripe down the middle. Then on the the other side i used the models own hed kandi glitter to add a bit of sparkle.

It's not really nail art but the next nail is possibly my favourite nail colour. It's black cherries by Rimmel London! I love it!

I used a Barry M black nail polish and used a matte polish at the tip of the nail.

And last but not least I used a collection nail polish in Look At Me and then used a black nail art pen to draw little zig zags across it.

Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Hello!

It has been quite a while since I have posted a nail art post but this year I have promised to make them more of a regular thing in 2014 after all I have a real passion for nail art and all things beauty!

So I was watching Breakfast at Tiffany's when I got the inspiration to do these nails a few days ago. I used Barry M's hi shine gelly nail polish in the shade Green Berry and I used a Models Own nail art pen to add the bow detail.

So I used one or two coats of the gelly polish an let them dry completely. Then on my middle finger I drew a line down the middle and then one across that. I waited for both the two white lines to dry then I drew a sort of oval shape coming up from the centre of the two lines to create a bow shape. Then underneath I drew two straight lines to recreate the look of ribbon strands. And tada!

Thanks for reading I hope you liked this post! Love A, x

Easy nail art.

HI!

I remember when I first turned my hand to trying to do some artsy things on my nails. I thought they looked really rubbish and I'd never be able to create interesting looks or designs. However after a lot of trying and many hours I think I have improved dramatically.

Whenever I post a nail art post I often get people commenting about how they feel they can't reproduce something similar. I am nowhere near an expert I have too much time on my hands and far too many polishes/nail pens!

I have compiled some cool nail art designs which I think are quite easy to do and replicate.

So I'm going to start off with the easiest of them all. A simple glitter tip. It takes next to no time to do and it always looks so cool.

I started off with a plain white base. I used a Barry M nail paint in the shade Matt White.

I then used a glittery gold polish and swept the brush across the end of the nail.
The polishes I used.
Tuxedo nails.

Start off with a black base.
Draw a V shape at the top of the nail using either a nail art pen or you can use a toothpick dipped in white nail polish to create the same effect.

Then fill in the v shape to create a thick white colour inside the V.

I used a white nail art pen, the nib tool to draw two squiggly lines either side of the V to create the look of lapels. Then used a dotting tool to create the look of buttons down the black part of the suit.

To add to the effect of the tuxedo. In the V shape, I drew a bowtie and some shirt buttons with a black nail art pen. To draw the bowtie I slowly drew opposing triangles to create the look of it.

Galaxy nails
For this look I started with a black base on the nail. I then used an old make up sponge which I have cut up into small pieces to make it easier to use.
Holding the sponge piece with a pair of tweezers I dipped the corner in some white nail polish.

I then sponged the white polish in a slight curved line across the painted black nail.

Then I used a light blue colour in the middle of the white stripe. And then a dark blue colour around the edges the stripe.
At this point I didn't think it was going well. So i added a bit more white and then blended it out with the light and dark blue. Do this until you reach the colours you like.
Once I was happy with the way it looked I used a white dotting pen. I did a mix of smaller and bigger dots to create the look of stars and moons.

Once I thought it was dry I put a silver and glitter coat over the top. The white spots weren't quite dry so it smudged.  I thought it looked better that way however as it looks more like a shooting star.

Penguin Nails
I started off with a black base and then using a dotting tool I drew a semi circle like shape at the bottom of the nail.

Above the white oval shape I dotted two white circles to create the look of eyes.
I then used a black dotting tool in the middle of the white dots to make eyes.
I don't have an orange dotting tool. So i improvised using the Barry M gelly hi shine nail paint in the colour Mango and an old kirby grip.
Using the kirby grip carefully I drew a triangle stretching from the eyes to the tip of the white oval shape to make a nose. And two small semi circles at the bottom to create little feet.

 Cartoon Nails

I started off with a red base colour. I used two coats for this to give it a rich, even colour.

After the red layers dried I went around the edges carefully with a black nail art pen drawing a medium thickness black line.
Wait for this to dry..

I then used a white nail art pen and drew a dot at the bottom and a slightly curved white line above to create the look of an artificial shine.

I then went over this with a matte finish polish to get rid of any natural shine.

et voila!

If any of you use these tutorials I'd love it if you got in touch and let me know how you found it!

Matte winter nail colours.

Hello!

So I've decided to combine two of my favourite things about nails in this post, my winter nail polishes and matte nail polish!. I am a big fan of matte nails I think they look really cool, they feel really smooth and nice to the touch and they are so simple to do. You can buy matte nail polish colours from Barry M but from Rimmel and Bourjois you can buy a Matte coat so you can use any colour underneath.

I have decorated a nail wheel with all my favourite winter nail polish shades and will post a normal photo and a photo of the colours after a matte coat.

Before the matte coat you can see the natural shine on each nail. I used two coats of each polish to achieve the bold colour.
The nail polishes I used.

This is the matte finish nail polish I used from Rimmel.
MATTE EFFECT
The nail polishes used starting with the grey colour in the top right corner and going clockwise around the wheel:

Christmas nail art!

Hello!

I am already so excited for Christmas even though there is over a month and a bit to go (37 days if like me you are counting!).

Today I have decided to spread my early Christmassy joy by showing off some fun nail art ideas ready for the jolly season. I mentioned it in my Halloween nail art post but I used a white nail wheel I bought off of Amazon. I bought a pack of ten for about £1 which is such a bargain and I have put them to good use too.

I used quite a lot of nail polishes for this nail wheel..

The colours from left to right:
17 Lasting Fix nail polish in Heart Beat
Barry M nail polish in Bright Red
Collection nail polish in Ebony
Barry M nail polish in Red Wine
Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail polish in Blueberry
Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail polish in Mango
Barry M nail polish in Matt White
Model's Own nail polish in Gold Rush
Bourjois So Laque nail polish in Lime Catwalk
No7 Stay Perfect nail polish in Practically Perfect
The free nail polish with last month's Company Magazine in Lana

To add the details onto the nails I used these nail art pens. The white one is a Model's Own and it has a pointed nib tool as well as a striper. Whereas the other ones have the nib tool and a normal brush inside.

Thanks for reading, I hope you liked this post. If you liked any of the nails in particular I am happy to do a tutorial post on them!

Halloween nails

HELLO! So this is the first week I've ever worked almost everyday and I'm finding it very weird and I feel like a proper adult going to work everyday haha!

I bought some nail wheels off of amazon on Monday and they arrived today (they cost £1.72 for 10 wheels and free postage and packaging yay)

So I decided to do some fun halloween nail art designs on them first.

Please excuse my messy desk. I cleaned it afterwards. Thanks for reading I really hope you hope you like it!
